Whether you're a sea lover or prefer to stay on the mainland, this excursion is a breath of fresh air, offering you the best of both worlds. In Santa Pola we pass along the fascinating salt lakes, which contain a very high salt concentration on evaporation of the water and are being used for the salt production. Close to the harbor we visit the Sea Aquarium, where the magnificent flora and fauna from the Mediterranean can be observed.
From the port of Santa Pola we embark for a relaxing boat trip to the pirate island of Tabarca. Enjoy a refreshing salty breeze, the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin. Tabarca, a small unspoiled island, looks like a place from another era, like someone has managed to freeze time. Stroll along the old city gates, or take a refreshing dip in the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. No doubt you will return completely revitalized.
The palm garden of Elche, declared World Heritage, is another stunning phenomenon of nature and an absolute must-see. The Priest’s Garden is world famous, and the masterpiece is an eight-armed palm tree that was named after the legendary Empress Sissi. Walking in the shadow of the many exotic plants and palm species in this green oasis is an absolute delight. We end our day in the impressive castle of Santa Barbara that towers high above the city of Alicante and offers downright breathtaking panoramic views across the city and the beautiful bay of Alicante.
