On a height of 600 meters you find the mountain village of Guadalest, founded by the Moors in a lonely but beautiful and very strategic setting. Castles arise in between granite rocks, appearing to be one with the surrounding nature and giving it an overall look of surrealism. More than 2 million tourists come here every year, so make sure you don’t miss out on this spectacular village.
Before reaching the Guadalest valley, travelling along the winding mountain roads, you will pass several other quaint little villages. One of them is La Nucia, offering you a magnificent view of both the sparkling and shimmering Mediterranean Sea as well as the impressive mountains. In the beautiful little village of Polop, we make a photo stop, and after only one glimpse of the white houses, cozily leaning against the mountainside, you will understand why.
We visit a local shop with honey, fruit, moscatel wine and other delicacies from the region. And if you wish, there’s the opportunity to walk up to the old town to enjoy a great view on the stunning Guadalest lake, allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy the splendid scenery that is surrounding you. After that, it is up to you to discover Guadalest entirely at your leisure and your pace.
